Traineeship and Teaching Mobility for staff

Outgoing traineeship and teaching

Staff Teaching Assignment (STA)

Faculty must hold a permanent, full-time appointment to qualify for a Staff Teaching Assignment (STA). Before the visit starts, the host university should sign off on a Mobility Agreement that outlines the visiting lecturer’s teaching plan and other activities. The coursework delivered should slot into the host institution’s curriculum and may relate to any discipline. While on exchange, staff are expected to participate in outreach and relationship-building—for example, showcasing the American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo, connecting with prospective students, and exploring collaborative projects. For exchanges within Programme Countries, the host must hold an Erasmus Charter for Higher Education and have an active inter-institutional agreement with the AUB Mediterraneo.

Staff Mobility for Training (STT)

Under this scheme, academic and administrative staff can engage in training placements or job-shadowing with partner universities or other appropriate organisations abroad; attendance at conferences is not covered. Mobility is open from any participating Programme Country to another Programme Country or to a partner country. To ensure that the experience is meaningful, the training should align with the individual’s professional development and personal learning needs. Trips must last at least two consecutive days and no more than two months, with financial support limited to five consecutive working days plus two travel days, and each funded working day must feature a training Programme. Mobilities can take place within Europe or internationally. For details, please contact the Erasmus+ Office.

Deadlines

Applications for the 2025–26 Erasmus+ Staff Mobility for Training programme must be received by the Erasmus Institutional Coordinator by 30 October 2025.

  • Prospective participants should secure written approval from their host institution in advance.
  • A copy of this approval—whether an email or letter—must be attached as a PDF and should outline the proposed training schedule, including dates, times, and daily activities, and demonstrate that the content relates directly to the applicant’s job duties.
  • The head of the relevant unit (e.g., dean, president, or department head) must endorse each application.

Incoming traineeship and teaching

Teaching staff from institutions in Erasmus Programme Countries are invited to the American University of Beirut Mediterraneo for exchanges under the Erasmus+ scheme, provided a bilateral agreement covering teaching mobility is in place between AUB Mediterraneo and the visiting institution. Grants to support these exchanges are provided by the staff member’s home university. To apply, please email the AUB Mediterraneo Erasmus Office with your academic profile, a short bio outlining your area of expertise and the anticipated benefits for both institutions, and a preliminary teaching plan. The office will forward your request to the appropriate academic department, which will assess whether the proposed visit can be accommodated in its schedule; if so, you will be contacted to finalise details such as dates.

AUB Mediterraneo also welcomes academic and administrative staff for training visits; the content of training depends on the timing of the visit. For more information, please contact the Erasmus Office.
