Outgoing Traineeship

Erasmus+ offers support for traineeships (work placements or internships) abroad, lasting from 2 to 12 months, for students currently enrolled in higher education institutions in Programme Countries. This opportunity is available at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.

For students enrolled in single-cycle study Programmes (e.g., Medicine), the mobility period may extend up to 24 months.

Please note that internship courses or practicum components included in certain study Programmes may also be carried out abroad under the Erasmus+ Traineeship scheme.

Eligible Organizations

Employment can be in companies, training centers, research centers, universities, embassies, and other organizations other than EU institutions.

Requirements

Employment can be in companies, training centers, research centers, universities, embassies, and other organizations other than EU institutions.

  • Student status: Applicants must be full-time Bachelor’s or Master’s students at the American University of Beirut – Mediterraneo who have successfully completed at least 24 ECTS credits.
  • Residence permit: Non-EU students must hold a valid Student Residence Permit.
  • Duration of placement: Placements must last a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 8 months per study cycle (combined with Erasmus study mobility). For short-term physical mobility ranges from 5 to 30 days, and may also include an online component.
  • Maximum duration by level: Undergraduate students may undertake placements of up to 3 months, while postgraduate and recent graduates may participate for up to 12 months, subject to available funding and conditions. If applications exceed the number of available places, funding may be reduced to the minimum (covering 2 months), with the remaining period granted as Zero Grant mobility.
  • Host organization limit: A student or graduate may not be placed in more than one host organization during the same placement period.
  • Repeat placements: Students or graduates who have previously completed a placement at an organization may not return to the same host organization more than twice.
  • New graduates: Applications must be submitted shortly before graduation, and placements must be completed within 12 months after graduation.

Application deadline

The deadline for submitting applications to participate in the Erasmus+ Staff Mobility Programme for Training for the academic year 2025–2026 is 30 October 2025.

Applicants must first obtain written pre-approval from the host university or organization before submitting their application to the Erasmus+ Office.

Applications must include, in PDF format, the approval (email or letter) from the host institution, clearly stating:

  • The proposed training Programme (daily schedule of activities).
  • The specific dates and duration of the training.

Please note that the proposed training must be directly relevant to the applicant’s professional duties. The mobility period may take place any time up to 31 July 2026.

Implementing an Erasmus mobility activity demands thorough documentation both before, during, and after the activity, to ensure its successful execution and funding.
